What to Expect
I offer a complimentary 20-minute phone consultation to help you get a sense of my work and determine if you’d like to continue to meet. In our first conversation, I’ll ask questions to better understand what prompted you to seek therapy and to learn more about you. Also, it would be important to me that you have your questions and concerns addressed.
To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.
-- Ralph Waldo Emerson
From here, should you choose to do so, we will meet in person for an initial session (60 minutes) to talk more comprehensively about your concerns as well as your hopes and expectations for therapy. Appointments hereafter would be about 45-50 minutes in length. We would follow a collaboratively developed treatment plan and meet at a frequency that makes sense for you (typically this starts at once per week).
The overall length of treatment depends on several factors, so there isn’t a set standard. Some of these influential factors include: the severity of your problem, the length of time you’ve been feeling the way you do, the quality of your support systems, your input of effort into therapy, and insurance session allowances. We’ll work together to make decisions about your treatment that maximize your potential therapeutic benefit.
I strive to create an atmosphere that is safe and comfortable – physically as well as interpersonally. You won’t need to worry about finding a parking space, having a restroom available to you, or the dreaded scratchy tissue.
